Apple has sold the 100 millionth iPod, making it the fastest selling music player in history, the company said Monday in a statement. Apple sold the first iPod five and a half years ago in November 2001. The player became an instant hit with its iTunes online music store and generous memory capacity that enabled users to carry with them a large number of songs.
