ArsTechnica reports that Apple has delayed WatchOS 2 to an undisclosed date in the near future

Apple had originally planned to release WatchOS 2 today alongside iOS 9, but it has changed its plans. According to a statement given to TechCrunch, the company has "discovered a bug... that is taking a bit longer to fix than we expected." Apple hasn't announced a new release date for the operating system—it will be out "shortly," but not today.

WatchOS 2 makes a few additions to the core operating system, but the bigger news is that Apple is opening more hardware access up to third-party developers. They can make apps with more complex animations and access hardware like the Taptic Engine, Digital Crown, and other sensors. These apps will also be able to run without an immediate connection to your phone, something only first-party apps could do before.
