Apple posted one of the best third quarters in its history Wednesday -- as record sales of Mac computers and strong iPod demand drove a 73 percent jump in profit -- and said it has its sights set on selling 1 million of its new iPhone devices by the end of the current quarter. Apple easily beat Wall Street predictions for the quarter that ended in June, with revenue rising 24 year over last year to $5.41 billion.
